ATLANTA -- May 20,
2004 – Mickey Mouse
is on the move. Suddath
Relocation Systems of
Atlanta will transport
several Mickey Mouse
statues to Underground
Atlanta on May 22 as
part of The Walt Disney
Company’s “Celebrate
Mickey: 75 InspEARations”
nationwide statue tour.
Suddath Relocation
Systems, a subsidiary of
The Suddath Companies
and a leading agent for
United Van Lines, was
selected last Fall to be
the “Official
Transportation Sponsor”
and will provide all
transportation and
logistics services for
75 Mickey Mouse statues
that will be on display
in 12 U.S. cities
through September 2005.
Atlanta is the first
stop on the 12-city tour
and will be home to15 of
the 75 6-foot-tall,
700-lb. Mickey statues.
Designed by Disney
legends, artists,
athletes and actors, the
statues reflect each
designer’s personal
interpretation of Mickey
Mouse. The statues will
be on display at
Underground Atlanta
through July 2004.
Suddath Relocation
Systems of Atlanta, one
of Suddath’s 16
nationwide locations,
will house the statues
in its warehouse until
they are ready to be
transported to
Underground Atlanta for
an unveiling celebration
on May 22. Suddath will
strategically position
the statues throughout
the venue for the public
to view before the
Mickeys embark on their
next adventure. Cities
scheduled for the tour
include: Chicago,
Philadelphia, Boston,
Portland, Denver,
Houston, Dallas, Kansas
City, Minneapolis, Los
Angeles and New York.

president and CEO of The
Suddath Companies, says
moving Mickey Mouse is a
challenging transport.
“Suddath is moving
one of the world’s most
beloved characters to
cities all across the
nation,” Vaughn said.
“This complex task
requires the
coordination of a team
of moving professionals
to complete each leg of
the tour. Our facility
in Atlanta will play a
large role to ensure the
safe and timely arrival
of the Mickey statues to
Underground.”
In preparation for the
Atlanta move, the 15
Mickey statues will be
carefully loaded onto
one of Suddath’s
specially equipped
moving vans, which
comfortably houses the
statues. Each moving van
is a 53-foot “flat
floor” trailer with a
rear hidden lift gate
and air ride suspension
to ensure that Mickey
arrives in top form.
After loading, the
Mickey statues are
strapped into place
using load bars to
ensure a safe and secure
journey to their
destinations.
