--75 Statues Celebrating Mickey’s 75th
Anniversary To Embark on Nationwide Tour --
JACKSONVILLE, Fla., November 17, 2003 – The Walt Disney
Company selected Jacksonville-based The Suddath Companies as the
official transportation sponsor of the “Celebrate Mickey: 75
InspEARations” statue tour of U.S. cities. The Suddath Companies
will provide all transportation and logistics services for 75 Mickey
Mouse statues on display through September 2005. For this global
celebration, Suddath was chosen as one of four exclusive sponsors,
which also include The Coca-Cola Company, The Home Depot and Kodak.
The 6-foot-tall, 700-lb. Mickey statues, designed by Disney
Legends, artists, athletes and actors, reflect each designer’s
personal interpretation of Mickey Mouse. To transport Mickey,
Suddath Relocation Systems, a division of The Suddath Companies and
a leading agent for United Van Lines, dedicated three specially
designed 53-foot trailers for the nationwide tour. Through a
customized logistics and moving process, Suddath Relocation Systems
will initially move the Mickey statues to Disney World, then to 12
U.S. cities as well as Disneyland Resort. The nationwide tour
culminates in a charity auction. The proceeds from the sale of each
statue will benefit the charity of each individual artist’s choice.
Officiating over the kick-off celebration, Michael D. Eisner,
chairman and CEO of The Walt Disney Company, will unveil the statues
at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom on Nov. 18, 2003.
